Vetting and Onboarding Team Manager 

Hybrid – 2/3days in Kirkby, Merseyside, Liverpool 
Full Time, Permanent  
£30,000-£34,000 per annum 

 

Here at Serco, we are seeking a proactive and experienced Vetting & Onboarding Team Manager to join our HR team. In this pivotal role, you’ll ensure the efficient delivery of all screening and vetting checks within your designated area, supporting the compliance and operational needs of the business.

 

You’ll be at the forefront of continuous improvement, streamlining processes, delivering expert advice, and providing hands on leadership to our Administrators and Specialists. From overseeing system configurations to supporting new business transitions, this role is ideal for someone with a keen eye for compliance and a passion for developing high-performing teams. 

 

As part of this you will: 

 

System Configuration & Maintenance 

  • Oversee configuration and maintenance of vetting systems (e.g., Access Screening, Health Hub Portal, DocuSign, People First). 

  • Drive system optimisation to meet service delivery and compliance needs. 

Team Leadership & Development 

  • Lead, manage, and develop a team of Administrators and Specialists. 

  • Deliver regular 1:1s, coaching, and performance reviews in line with Serco standards. 

  • Conduct audits and implement service improvement initiatives. 

Process & Compliance Management 

  • Ensure vetting processes meet legal and operational requirements. 

  • Maintain and update procedural documentation (e.g., checklists, guides, templates). 

  • Deliver accurate clearance status reports and audit outputs. 

Stakeholder Engagement 

  • Act as the primary contact for vetting matters across key stakeholder groups. 

  • Build strong relationships with internal and external partners (e.g., MOJ, Home Office, UKSV). 

Expertise & Knowledge Management 

  • Maintain subject matter expertise across vetting platforms and regulations. 

  • Train others in systems and processes such as SAP, ServiceNow, and UKSV Portal. 

Issue Resolution & Continuous Improvement 

  • Handle and resolve complaints or escalations. 

  • Recommend and implement improvements to reduce recurrence of issues. 

Business Integration & Transition Support 

  • Lead Right to Work checks and employment screening for TUPE transfers and acquisitions. 

  • Oversee smooth onboarding of new business contracts into the VOB function 

 

What you will need to do the role: 

  • Strong knowledge of vetting, screening, and onboarding processes. 

  • Proficiency in systems such as SAP, ServiceNow, UKSV Portal, Access Screening, and Occupational Health platforms. 

  • Skilled communicator with the ability to influence and engage across all levels. 

  • Proven experience coaching and developing teams in a compliance-driven environment. 

  • Understanding of Serco’s HR policies and performance frameworks (desirable). 

  • Some travel may be required to support stakeholders or transition activities.
