At Serco, we deliver vital public services across the UK and beyond. We’re looking for an Onboarding & Vetting Administrator to join our team, playing a key role in ensuring a smooth, compliant, and positive experience for every new starter.
This is a great opportunity for someone with strong administrative skills and an interest in HR, onboarding, or compliance.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be responsible for managing onboarding and vetting processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements while delivering a seamless experience for new employees.
Key responsibilities include:

Processing security clearances including BPSS, UKSV, Home Office, and MOJ checks

Coordinating criminal record checks and supporting managers with legislation guidance

Verifying right to work and supporting visa processes in line with UKVI requirements

Setting up and monitoring Occupational Health checks
-
Managing onboarding activities, including issuing employment offers and contracts
-
Checking documentation and data accuracy to prevent delays
-
Liaising with internal stakeholders and external bodies such as UKSV, DBS, and Home Office teams

Verifying identification and obtaining employment references

Maintaining and updating vetting and HR systems
-
Responding to queries from employees, managers, and external partners
-
Ensuring all processes meet compliance and GDPR standards

Supporting data accuracy through regular file audits and data cleansing
What you’ll need to succeed
We’re looking for someone organised, detail-focused, and confident working in a fast-paced environment:

Strong administration experience with high attention to detail

Experience using multiple systems and managing data accurately
-
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Excellent communication skills across different channels
-
Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
This role requires BPSS clearance. You can start once baseline clearance is obtained (includes a basic criminal record check).
Desirable:

Knowledge of UK right to work and visa processes

Understanding of vetting and screening procedures

Experience in HR, recruitment, or onboarding administration
