Here at Serco, we're looking for a Group Governance Manager to play a key role in shaping how one of the world's leading public services organisations is governed.

This is a rare opportunity to influence the way decisions are made across the Group, working with Executive and Board stakeholders to strengthen accountability, simplify governance and improve organisational effectiveness.

Reporting to the Head of Risk, Assurance and Internal Audit, you'll lead enterprise-wide governance initiatives that help ensure the right decisions are made by the right people, with clear ownership, effective oversight and meaningful challenge. Working across functions and business units, you'll turn complex governance requirements into practical solutions that support performance, risk management and long-term success.

As part of this you’ll:

• Lead the design, review and implementation of governance frameworks across the Group.
• Drive improvements to decision-making, accountability and oversight arrangements.
• Partner with senior leaders to simplify governance, clarify decision rights and strengthen organisational effectiveness.
• Lead complex, cross-functional governance and transformation initiatives from concept through to delivery.
• Ensure governance is aligned with risk, controls, compliance and assurance activities.
• Develop practical governance solutions that are embedded into day-to-day operations.
• Provide clear, evidence-based insight and reporting to Executive and Board stakeholders.
• Champion continuous improvement, ensuring governance arrangements remain effective, proportionate and fit for purpose.

What you’ll need to do the role:

• Strong experience of designing, reviewing or implementing governance frameworks within a large, complex organisation.
• A broad understanding of corporate and operational governance, including decision rights, delegated authorities, policy frameworks, committee effectiveness, risk, controls, compliance and assurance.
• Proven experience of leading complex, cross-functional change from initial diagnosis through to sustainable implementation.
• Excellent analytical skills and judgement, with the ability to distinguish material governance issues from process detail and develop proportionate solutions.
• Strong influencing, facilitation and stakeholder-management skills, with the confidence to constructively challenge senior leaders.
• The ability to build collaboration across functions, divisions and business units, bringing different perspectives together around a clear outcome.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide Executive and Board stakeholders with clear, evidence-based insight.
• A practical and delivery-focused approach, with the ability to turn governance design into sustainable day-to-day ways of working.
• The confidence, resilience and credibility to operate effectively in a complex, visible and evolving environment.
