As a Senior Database Administrator, you’ll provide critical support for our database environment, driving innovation and ensuring high performance. You will work closely with internal teams and external government clients to deliver and maintain robust database solutions.

As a Senior Database Administrator in our Digital Services team, you’ll make a positive impact by:

  • Managing the design, implementation, and maintenance of Oracle and MS SQL databases
  • Ensuring database security, backups, and recovery procedures are in place
  • Monitoring and improving the performance of Oracle and SQL database servers
  • Overseeing high availability and disaster recovery processes
  • Liaising with external vendors and clients for seamless operations
  • Providing on-call support and troubleshooting as required

The role requires the ability to hold a current Australian Federal Police Check. You may also need to work after hours and on weekends when necessary.

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • A degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience with Oracle and SQL Server database administration in a medium-to-large organization
  • Oracle Database Appliance and Oracle KVM Virtualization experience would be an advantage
  • Proven expertise in IT operations with a deep understanding of database architecture, principles, and best practices
  • Extensive experience managing database administration tasks including backups, recovery, refreshes, sizing, performance tuning, and security
  • Proficiency in PL/SQL, T-SQL, and Oracle/Red Hat Linux server administration
  • Expertise in High Availability and Disaster Recovery, including Oracle Data Guard and Always On Availability Groups
