As our BMS Controls Engineer, you’ll play an important role in ensuring the Fiona Stanley Hospital’s extra low voltage and building management systems operate safely, efficiently, and seamlessly.
You’ll join a supportive Engineering team that values collaboration, problem-solving, and continuous improvement. In this role, you’ll blend technical expertise, stakeholder engagement, and a strong focus on patient and staff safety. You’ll help us optimize plant and equipment performance, strengthen reporting, and champion a culture of innovation and care.
As a BMS Controls Engineer in the Engineering and Utilities team, you’ll make a positive impact by being responsible for the following:
- Ensuring safe work practices and promoting a safety-first mindset.
- System design and installation: Assist in the design and creation of systems that integrate various building functions like heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), lighting, and security.
- Programming and configuration: Provide SME support to the local team if required for programming of controllers and sensors to monitor and control building systems in real-time and integrate new devices and platforms.
- System optimization: Provide SME support where required for monitoring of performance data to optimize energy usage, maintain occupant comfort (e.g., temperature, air quality), and meet energy efficiency targets.
- Client and team interaction: Work with clients to understand their needs, pro-vide technical support, and identify opportunities to upgrade or expand their existing systems.
- Integration of various systems: Provide SME support for integration of security systems, fire alarms, and other safety alerts into the central control system.
- OT and networking: Provide SME support for the management of the OT infra-structure of the BMS, including network communication protocols such BACnet and Modbus, and work with the relevant teams to ensure system cybersecurity.
- Developing procedures, processes and IELVS reporting mechanisms to improve efficiency.
- Required skills
- Technical skills: Proficiency with BMS software and hardware, knowledge of HVAC and electrical systems, and familiarity with communication protocols.
- Analytical skills: Ability to interpret data, analyze performance, and trouble-shoot complex problems.
- Communication skills: The ability to communicate effectively with clients, facility managers, engineers, technicians and other internal stakeholders.

- More than 10 years’ experience as a DDC/BMS Controls Engineer
- Strong knowledge of integrated extra low voltage systems
- Experience working in large healthcare facilities
- At least 5 years’ experience in facilities management
- A Bachelor of Engineering Controls (or similar)
