As a Security Analyst, you’ll be on the frontline of Serco’s cyber defence — protecting critical digital assets and services that enable essential operations. Based in our Security Operations Centre (SOC), you’ll monitor, analyse, and respond to security threats in real time, ensuring the integrity and resilience of our ICT environment.
This is a hands-on role where your analytical skills, technical expertise, and problem-solving mindset will directly contribute to the protection of vital systems that support the delivery of healthcare and public services across Australia.
As a Security Analyst, you’ll make a positive impact by:
- Monitoring and analysing security alerts to identify real threats from false positives
- Investigating incidents and performing triage to determine severity and scope
- Conducting vulnerability assessments and supporting remediation activities
- Responding to and containing security incidents across network, cloud, and endpoint platforms
- Using Splunk Cloud, Cisco Firewalls, Rapid7/Tenable, and EDR/EPP tools to investigate and report threats
- Supporting incident, problem, and change management processes in line with ITIL principles
- Preparing detailed incident reports and communicating findings to stakeholders
- Contributing to continuous improvement of cybersecurity operations and readiness

To be successful in this role you’ll have:
- Hands-on experience in a Security Operations or Cybersecurity Analyst role
- Proficiency with security toolsets such as Splunk, Rapid7 or Tenable
- Working knowledge of Cisco firewalls, SIEM, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection tools
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and incident response skills
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and time management skills
- The ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritise competing demands
- Availability to perform security operations outside of standard business hours
Desirable qualifications include:
- ITIL Foundation Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or related field
- Post-graduate degree in Information Systems Security (or similar)
- Certifications such as Security+, ISC2 Certified Cybersecurity, CCNA Security, or cloud security certifications (Azure or AWS)
- Knowledge of ASD Essential 8 and vulnerability management best practices
