Make an impact at Serco

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Rapid Global System Permit Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of Rapid Global, Serco’s digital permitting system in use at Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH). This role will coordinate the permit to work system for all Serco staff at FSH.

Responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and evaluating Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS)
  • Auditing works undertaken by personnel and subcontractors holding a permit to work
  • Signing and issuing Permits to Work for high-risk tasks
  • Reviewing completed permits and identifying non-compliances with the permit-to-work procedure

To ensure coverage from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, this role will operate on a rotating roster of 6:00 am–2:00 pm and 10:00 am–6:00 pm, alternating with another team member.

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

Experience & Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety, or other relevant safety qualifications
  • Sound understanding of IT systems
  • Ability to interpret and explain relevant legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures to others
  • Mechanical or Electrical trade qualification (highly desirable)
  • Relevant industry experience in delivering work scopes in line with permit-to-work systems

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • High attention to detail with competency in reviewing documents and drawings
  • Well-developed organisational and time management skills, with the ability to show initiative and work effectively under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain concerns and issues in a clear and easily understood manner
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, SharePoint, and Teams
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively in a team environment
