We’re looking for an AIT/AIV Support Engineer to join our on-site team at ESA ESTEC in Noordwijk to support the Systems Department of the European Space Agency (ESA) (Netherlands)!

Key Responsibilities
Support to Assembly, Integration and Verification (AIT/AIV):
- Provide engineering support to ESA projects and activities covering all AIT/AIV engineering throughout all project phases.
- Assist the Satellite Engineering and AIV Manager in planning, coordinating and supervising Assembly, Integration, Verification and Test tasks.
- Support environmental testing and launch campaigns, including monitoring of industrial activities.
Technical Analysis and Documentation:
- Participate in project reviews and provide technical inputs and recommendations Review the project documentation as produced throughout the project lifetime in the area of AIT and AIV, providing inputs and comments;
- Contribute to the assessment of technical risks and to the definition of mitigation actions.
- Prepare and update reports, presentations, and meeting minutes related to assigned activities.
- Provide inputs to weekly and monthly reporting, summarising technical status and progress.
Coordination and Interface Management:
- Support coordination between AIT/AIV and other project engineering disciplines to ensure technical consistency.
- Assist in the monitoring of risks and schedule adherence during AIT/AIV campaigns.
- Participate in section internal meetings and contribute to information exchanges under the guidance of the Service Manager.
Key Responsibilities Extension
Support to Concurrent Design and Future Missions:
- Contribute to feasibility assessments and mission studies at the Concurrent Design Facility (CDF) for AIT/AIV and programmatic aspects.
- Provide technical feedback on design trade-offs, integration constraints, and testability considerations.
Continuous Improvement:
- Support the identification of lessons learned and propose improvements to AIT/AIV processes.
- Contribute to the continuous optimisation of integration, testing and verification activities across projects.
Other Knowledge and Experience
- Familiarity with ESA project processes, reviews and documentation requirements is an asset.
- Skilled in coordination and communication across multidisciplinary teams.
- Capable of producing high-quality technical notes, presentations and reports.
- Experience supporting CDF studies or early mission feasibility phases is desirable.
- Knowledge of the ESA working environment is an advantage.
Language Proficiency Requirements:
- Excellent command of English, both written and spoken, is essential for effective communication and documentation.
- Ability to articulate technical concepts clearly and collaborate within international teams.
Skills
Skills and experience
- Master’s degree in Physics or Engineering (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent field).
- Minimum of 5 years in Assembly, Integration, Verification and Testing of complex space systems in the thermo-mechanical and/or electrical functional domains.
- Experience in Projects assembly, integration and testing phases.
- Demonstrated experience supporting AIT/AIV campaigns at system, subsystem and unit levels.
- Experienced in environmental testing (thermal vacuum, vibration, EMC) and launch preparation.
- Experience with Space Engineering Standards and their preparation and implementation;
- Familiar with ESA standards (ECSS) and AIT/AIV methodologies.
- Experienced in the review of technical documentation and requirements traceability.
- Experience with procurement and technical monitoring of industrial activities;
- Knowledge of Space Missions and Spacecraft Systems Design;
- Understanding of space systems architectures;
- Experience in supporting the organisation of satellite-related industrial activities, including schedule assessment and risk monitoring;
- Hands-on experience with satellite-related flight and ground hardware;
- Practical experience working with satellite-related flight or ground hardware.
