Introduction

Serco is a leading Space Services Provider with a long-standing partnership with the European Space Agency, supporting critical operational, technical and infrastructure services across ESA sites in Europe. At ESA ESTEC in Noordwijk, Serco plays a key role in maintaining and developing one of Europe’s most complex and advanced space research and technology campuses.

On behalf of our client, the European Space Agency, we are looking for a Civil Technician (Site Supervisor) to join the ESTEC Hard Services Section within the Directorate of Resources. This on-site role supports the maintenance, operation and development of ESTEC’s extensive technical and building infrastructure.

The support period for this role is from 01/04/2026 to 31/12/2026.

The Community You’ll Step Into

You will work at ESA ESTEC, the Agency’s largest technical centre, which hosts offices, laboratories with cleanrooms and complex technical facilities supporting space research and testing. The site operates continuously and relies on robust infrastructure and well-coordinated Facilities Management services.
You will be part of the Hard Services team, working closely with ESA facility engineers, technical officers and external contractors. The environment is operational, safety-critical and highly technical, requiring close coordination and a hands-on approach.

The Difference You Will Make

In this role, you will help ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of ESA ESTEC’s infrastructure. Your work will directly support the continuity of site operations by maintaining high standards of maintenance quality and technical reliability.
By supervising maintenance activities, supporting infrastructure projects and resolving technical issues, you will contribute to a site that enables critical ESA programmes and daily engineering activities.

What You’ll Do

You will support the maintenance and development of the site’s general infrastructure, including offices, laboratories with cleanrooms, technical facilities, utility plants for hot and chilled water, power plants with diesel generators and water and sewage networks.
You will supervise an outsourced, performance-based Facilities Management hard services contract covering civil, mechanical, electrical, fire safety and automation activities. This includes reviewing preventive maintenance plans, monitoring corrective maintenance works and ensuring quality levels and KPIs are met.

You will provide technical support for Facilities Management projects such as refurbishments, renewals, new installations and new construction works. You will analyse technical failures, propose technical solutions and support the preparation of technical requirements and specifications together with end users.
You will contribute to inspection programmes, propose upgrades where needed and support feasibility studies, cost estimates, acceptance of as-built documentation and technical review meetings. You will also perform monthly reviews of preventive maintenance delivery based on KPI analysis.

What You'll Bring

You hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline and have at least four years of experience in facility maintenance, technical supervision, or infrastructure support. You have experience preparing and supervising works and assessing technical solutions.
You have a good knowledge of national civil engineering standards and regulations and are comfortable working on a large technical site with multiple contractors and stakeholders.
Candidates must be EU nationals and eligible to work on site at ESA ESTEC.

What We Offer: More Than Just a Job

Working with Serco at ESA ESTEC means joining a stable and well-established organisation with a strong presence in the European space sector. You will be employed by Serco and assigned on site at ESA, benefiting from a professional working environment that values technical expertise, reliability and long-term collaboration.

Serco supports your development through regular performance reviews, career planning and access to training opportunities, including technical courses and professional development activities. You will be supported by local Serco management and benefit from open communication, ongoing engagement and access to internal career opportunities across Serco’s European and global space activities.
The employment package is competitive and aligned with the role and location, including pension arrangements, insurance coverage, annual salary review processes and generous leave entitlements in line with local regulations and ESA site practices.
