Oracle/Apex Developer
Posting Start Date: 9 Dec 2025
Location: Noordwijk, NL, 1687
Company: Serco Plc
Introduction
For more than half a century, Serco has walked alongside the pioneers of space. Serco has supported over 50 ESA missions where our teams have helped launch satellites, guide spacecraft across the void and turn data into discoveries that reshape our world.
With thousands of specialists contributing across the entire space lifecycle, from engineering support and satellite testing to launch services, LEOP, operations and surveillance, we have become a trusted force in national and European space strategies. And now, the next chapter could include you.
On behalf of our team in the Netherlands, we are looking for a talented Oracle APEX Developer to support the European Space Agency at ESTEC.
The Community You’ll Step Into
Every day at ESTEC, you join a community where collaboration feels natural. Engineers, analysts, database specialists and project managers work side by side, building systems that support Europe’s most ambitious space missions. It’s an environment where ideas move quickly and where people rely on one another to turn complex problems into practical solutions.
Within Serco, you will be part of a supportive and knowledgeable team that values technical excellence, open communication and a genuine interest in helping colleagues succeed. You will work closely with ESA counterparts who depend on robust, secure and well-designed applications to support operations, reporting and decision-making across a wide range of programmes.
The Difference You Will Make
The tools and applications you develop will be used daily by ESA teams who rely on accurate data, efficient processes and intuitive interfaces to perform their work. By creating solutions that are reliable, secure and easy to use, you help streamline operations and reduce the complexity behind mission-critical activities.
Your contribution strengthens Serco’s reputation as a trusted partner by delivering software that meets high standards of performance and security. Through your work, you support better decision-making, improve workflows and help ESA teams focus on the technical and scientific goals that drive Europe’s space programmes.
In this role, your impact reaches beyond the code you write. You help create stability, clarity and efficiency across systems that support some of Europe’s most important missions.
What You'll Do
As an Oracle APEX Developer, you will take part in the full lifecycle of application development that supports ESA’s internal teams. You will design, develop and improve APEX-based solutions, turning business needs into secure, scalable and user-friendly applications. You will write efficient SQL and PL/SQL to support complex logic, data flows and integrations, ensuring the systems you develop are robust and optimised.
Your work will involve collaborating closely with ESA stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical designs. You will build modern interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery and AJAX, ensuring a smooth and intuitive user experience. You will support integrations with other systems, contribute to performance improvements and ensure applications meet strong security and quality standards.
You will stay engaged with emerging Oracle features and new web technologies, bringing fresh ideas into the service and helping improve development practices over time.
What You Bring
You bring experience in Oracle APEX development and feel confident working with Oracle Database technologies. You enjoy designing clean, efficient solutions and have a strong command of SQL and PL/SQL. Because this role also involves partial DBA responsibilities, you are comfortable managing and maintaining database environments, ensuring they remain stable, secure and optimised for performance.
You are familiar with web technologies like HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and you can build interfaces that feel intuitive and responsive. Your background includes exposure to REST APIs, system integrations and modern development practices. You communicate clearly, think analytically and enjoy solving problems in a structured way. You can manage multiple priorities and feel comfortable working in an agile or fast-moving environment.
Experience with languages such as C#, .NET or Python adds versatility to your profile, as does familiarity with additional database technologies like PostgreSQL, SQL Server or MySQL. Above all, you bring curiosity, professionalism and a collaborative mindset, along with the desire to contribute to a meaningful mission.
To work on site at ESA-ESTEC, you must also hold EU nationality.
