As a Qualified Gardener, you’ll help create and maintain outdoor spaces that support the community and enhance the experience of residents and visitors. You’ll work closely with a dedicated horticulture team, using your skills to care for parks, gardens, and native landscapes. As a Qualified Gardener in the Parks & Gardens team at Westgate Park, you’ll make a positive impact by:

following guidance from the Head Gardener to deliver daily horticultural tasks
-
maintaining parks, gardens, and bushland landscapes, including granitic paths and tractor mowing
-
ensuring all work is completed safely and professionally
-
undertaking environmental tasks such as herbicide application, hand weeding, brush-cutting, and footpath care
-
maintaining vehicles, tools, and equipment to manufacturer standards
-
reporting accidents, incidents, and near-misses promptly
-
providing a clean, safe public environment through daily litter removal, waste management, minor graffiti removal, and bio-hazard response

strong knowledge of local plant and weed species

experience maintaining parks, gardens, reserves, or bushland environments
-
a collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively with your team

confidence using and maintaining horticultural machinery and tools
-
the ability to complete outdoor physical work in varying weather
- Employee Working With Childrens Check (or the ability to obtain)
-
practical experience in environmental care, weed management, or pesticide application (advantageous)
- Certificate III in Horticulture or equivalent
