Support our Defence Marine Support Services by performing essential marine operations that help keep our vessels safe and effective. As a General Purpose Hand in the Defence Marine Support Services team, you’ll support daily harbour and marine engineering operations across a variety of sites, contributing directly to safe and seamless vessel maintenance and operation.

As a General Purpose Hand in the Defence Marine Support Services team, you’ll make a positive impact by:

• Performing harbour duties, pollution containment, and fuelling services
• Assisting with berthing, anchoring, and general seamanship tasks
• Supporting vessel maintenance and marine engineering operations
• Completing safety checklists, logs, and administration records
• Identifying and procuring vessel parts and equipment
• Promoting safety and environmental compliance at all times

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

• A valid AMSA General-Purpose Hand Near Coastal Certificate of Competency
• A current First Aid Certificate
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC)
• Good teamwork and communication skills
• A current Driver’s Licence (desirable)

• You must be an Australian Citizen to obtain Defence Security Clearance - AGSVA Baseline Clearance
