Posting Start Date: 13 Oct 2026
Location: Portsmouth, Hampshire, GB, PO1 3LT
Company: Serco Plc
Maximo Data & Support Analyst
Defence – DMS NG
Location: Hybrid – home-based, with Ad-Hoc travel when required
Full Time, Permanent
Overview
Serco is looking for a Maximo Data & Support Analyst to join the team supporting IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS 9) on our DMS NG (Maritime Services) contract. With twelve months on our new live system, this is a newly shaped role and a chance to help build a strong, resilient Maximo service from the ground up.
Working closely with our Maximo Developer, you'll be the go-to person for day-to-day Maximo support and data quality, helping our engineering and operations teams trust the data they use to plan, deliver and record their work.
As part of this you’ll:
- Acting as the first point of contact for Maximo support requests, triaging issues by priority and impact
- Processing and validating data amendments across assets, locations, job plans and work orders, in line with change control
- Investigating and resolving data discrepancies, and escalating complex configuration issues where needed
- Carrying out routine system housekeeping, including user access checks and monitoring scheduled jobs
- Identifying the root causes of poor data and helping to put corrective and preventative actions in place
- Supporting front-line Maximo development work and deputising for the Maximo Developer when required
- Leading on audit requests and keeping clear records of amendments, decisions and resolutions
- Training and guiding users, and documenting workflows and processes
What you’ll need to do the role:
We're open to a range of backgrounds. You might come from a Maximo development or administration role, from another asset management system such as SAP PM, IFS or Infor EAM, or from a wider IT and database background. What matters most is that you bring:
- Experience of administering data within an asset or work management system, ideally IBM Maximo
- A good understanding of how asset, location, work order and job plan data fit together
- Confidence using SQL or similar tools to query and validate data
- A sharp eye for detail and a calm, methodical approach to a varied and sometimes time-sensitive workload
- Good communication skills, comfortable explaining technical issues to non-technical colleagues
Desirable
- Maximo development experience, such as automation scripts, integrations or reporting
- Experience of IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS 9)
- Experience in an asset-intensive sector such as defence, maritime, utilities or rail
- Familiarity with change control or governance in a system administration context
Maximo development experience would be a real advantage, but it isn't essential — if you bring strong Maximo front-end or data experience, we can teach the rest. Living near one of our UK naval bases would be useful, but it isn't essential. You'll also need to complete BPSS security screening, and eligibility for SC clearance would be an advantage. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK, as sponsorship is not available.
