Automation & Operations Engineer (IaC and Dev)

Purpose of the Role

Drive automation and operational readiness across the platform, reducing manual effort and keeping services reliable. This role focuses on operations, service transition and continuous improvement, delivered through code and automation rather than manual process.

Key Responsibilities

· Build automation for operational tasks, deployments and routine platform management.

· Own operational standards, runbooks, and service transition into a supportable state.

· Implement and maintain monitoring, alerting and incident response tooling.

· Drive continuous improvement of reliability, performance and operational efficiency.

· Coordinate technical operations across platform and delivery teams, including on-call practices.

· Take an AI-first approach to the work, using agentic AI tooling as the default way of building and delivering.

· Work in an iterative, board-tracked flow (Azure DevOps Boards or GitHub Projects), with peer code review as standard practice.

· Keep clear architecture and technical documentation current as part of the definition of done.

Must-have experience

· Strong hands-on automation engineering background with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or Bicep) in large organisation.

· Operations and SRE-style experience running production cloud services.

· Scripting and tooling skills (for example Python, PowerShell, Bash).

· Experience with monitoring, alerting and incident management.

· Service transition and operational readiness experience.

· Education: degree in Computer Science or similar.

· Language: Good English language skills (Mandatory)

Nice to Have

· Experience operating AI or data platform workloads.

· On-call and SLO/SLA management experience.

· Continuous improvement / process automation track record.
