Our expertise covers the entire space lifecycle—from satellite testing and launch services to spacecraft operations, space surveillance, and data management—making us a key partner in advancing national strategies and driving innovation in the New Space era. High above Earth, Europe’s space systems work silently in the background, supporting navigation, safety, and security across the continent.

On behalf of our team in Serco Czech Republic, we are looking for an Earth Observation Engineer to support Serco’s role in prestigious EU-funded actions managed by the granting authority under the powers delegated by the European Commission. The action focuses on the AI/ML digital transition of Copernicus services through AI Agent that integrates data, models, workflows, QA/QC, and interoperability with European infrastructures. • Support technical integration with project partners across foundation models, hybrid forecasting pipelines, agentic reasoning components, and visualisation workflows.
  • Support testing, validation, benchmarking, and debugging of integrated workflows.
  • Prepare technical documentation, implementation notes, test reports, and deliverable inputs.
  • Participate in technical meetings with consortium partners and provide practical feedback on feasibility, implementation risks, and integration issues.

Required experience

  • Hands-on experience in software engineering, data engineering, EO data processing, geospatial platforms, or environmental data workflows.
    Strong Python skills.
  • Experience working with APIs, data pipelines, metadata, catalogues, or platform integration.
  • Experience with geospatial data formats and tools, such as GeoTIFF, NetCDF, Zarr, HDF5, STAC, GDAL, raster/vector data, or similar.
  • Understanding of data quality checks, validation workflows, automated testing, or QA/QC pipelines.
  • Ability to work with technical specifications and convert them into working software components.
  • Good documentation skills.
  • Fluent English, written and spoken.
