Mental Health Nurse – Medicare Mental Health Line
$50.96 per hour | Contract until 30 June 2027 | Wednesday, Thursday & Friday
Are you a passionate Mental Health Nurse looking for an opportunity to use your clinical skills in a supportive and meaningful setting?
We are currently seeking experienced Mental Health Nurses to join the Medicare Mental Health Line, providing accessible mental health support to people across Australia.
About the Role
The Medicare Mental Health Line provides a free service for people seeking support, information and guidance around their mental health.
As a Mental Health Nurse, you will provide initial clinical support and assessment to callers, helping to understand their needs, identify any risks or concerns, and connect them with the most appropriate mental health services and supports.
This is a rewarding role where your clinical expertise, communication skills and ability to build rapport can make a genuine difference to someone at an important point in their mental health journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct mental health assessments and identify clinical needs and risks.
- Provide compassionate, person-centred support to people experiencing mental health concerns.
- Use clinical judgement to determine appropriate support and referral pathways.
- Provide information and guidance around available mental health services.
- Coordinate and connect callers with appropriate services and supports.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Work collaboratively with the broader mental health team.
Roster Requirements
We are specifically seeking availability for:
- Wednesday
- Thursday
- Friday
8:30am – 5:00pm Brisbane time
Please note: These days are required for the position and are not flexible, so applicants must be able to commit to this roster.

About You
We’re looking for a Mental Health Nurse who is confident in clinical assessment and risk management and has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
You will ideally have experience working within mental health services and be comfortable supporting people presenting with a broad range of mental health concerns and irsk assessment.
