As an Assistant Instructor at the Navy Synthetic Warfighting Centre, you’ll support the delivery of advanced synthetic warfare training for the Royal Australian Navy. Working alongside Senior Instructors and key Defence stakeholders, you’ll help plan, configure and execute complex simulation-based training events. Your work will directly contribute to building Navy capability through realistic, high-quality training experiences.
As an Assistant Instructor in the Navigation and Synthetic Warfare Training team, you’ll make a positive impact by:
- Supporting delivery of Advanced Tactical Training programs
- Managing simulator databases, entity builds and scenario design
- Configuring and monitoring combat system trainers and communications
- Conducting system operability testing and reporting technical issues
- Providing simulation support by emulating air and maritime assets
- Delivering user training and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives

You could be a great fit if you have:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with Naval Combat Management Systems
- Strong understanding of RAN operations, doctrine and warfighting principles
- Detailed knowledge of ADF exercises and operational requirements
- Experience in Defence training environments, ideally synthetic warfare
- Excellent communication skills and confidence working with Defence stakeholders
- Be able to achieve and maintain a defence security clearance of NV2 or higher
- Willingness to obtain Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- You’ll also bring a relevant operational background such as Air Battlespace Manager, simulation pilot, ASW fixed or rotary wing Sensor Operator, anti-submarine aircraft controller or similar Defence capability.
