We’re looking for a Ground Segment Monitoring Technician (System Application Operator) to reinforce the team in our Italian office in Rome.

Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a PDGS End-to‑End Operations Monitoring Technician to support the FLEX mission’s Core Ground Segment. You will ensure the smooth monitoring, performance assessment, and anomaly detection across the full PDGS data flow - from acquisition to product dissemination.

• Operate and configure the System Monitoring Facility (SMF) or equivalent monitoring tools.
• Monitor end-to-end data acquisition, production, ingestion, dissemination, and archival flows.
• Track KPIs such as production completeness and data latency.
• Detect, analyse, and report anomalies, missing inputs, and performance degradations.
• Produce daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
• Maintain an operations event log and support incident/problem reporting.
• Liaise with ESA and Ground Segment partners to resolve issues affecting PDGS operations.

Skills

• Experience in Ground Segment Operations Monitoring or EO mission operations.
• Understanding of PDGS architectures, EO data products (L0–L2), and auxiliary data flows.
• Strong Linux skills; shell scripting; familiarity with Docker.
• Ability to analyse system behaviour and troubleshoot complex operational issues.
• Good communication skills in English, Italian would be an advantage.
• Proactive, analytical, and detail-oriented.
• Strong teamwork and stakeholder interaction skills.
• Ability to take ownership and deliver high quality operational support.
• Availability for occasional weekend shifts.
