On behalf of our team in Italy, we are looking for a skilled and motivated IT Operations Engineer to support the infrastructure and operational activities of aerospace-related data processing systems. The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on expertise in Linux and IT operations with the ability to leverage AI-powered tools to improve operational efficiency, automate repetitive tasks, accelerate troubleshooting and support system analysis. While previous experience in the space sector is not required, a proactive mindset, strong problem-solving skills and familiarity with modern AI-assisted operational workflows are highly valued.
Key responsibilities
- Administer, monitor, and maintain Linux-based production environments.
- Build, deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker.
- Support infrastructure configuration and automation using Ansible.
- Manage, optimize and troubleshoot PostgreSQL databases (or equivalent RDBMS platforms).
- Use AI-assisted tools to accelerate system diagnostics, log analysis, incident investigation, root-cause analysis, and operational documentation.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts and AI-supported operational workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues, collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Work with ticketing systems (e.g. Jira) to track incidents, operational activities and mission support tasks.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities where automation and AI can enhance operational processes.
- Support operational readiness activities and infrastructure evolution.
Skills
- Strong expertise in Linux system administration.
- Good knowledge of PostgreSQL or equivalent relational database systems.
- Experience with configuration management tools, preferably Ansible.
- Familiarity with container technologies, especially Docker.
- Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Grafana.
- Ability to leverage AI-powered tools (e.g. ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, AI-based monitoring and analysis platforms) to support system administration, troubleshooting, scripting, and documentation activities.
- Experience with AI-assisted operations (AIOps), log analytics platforms, or intelligent monitoring solutions.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
- Familiarity with cloud-native environments and DevOps practices.
- Experience supporting mission-critical or high-availability systems.
