IT Operations Engineer

On behalf of our team in Italy, we are looking for an experienced AI Automation Engineer to design, develop and evolve intelligent orchestration solutions supporting mission-critical aerospace data processing systems. The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering skills with experience in backend development, workflow orchestration, system integration and the practical use of AI technologies to build intelligent automation solutions, enjoys building software that replaces repetitive manual work, integrates heterogeneous systems, and leverages modern AI technologies to create intelligent operational platforms. Previous experience in the space sector is not required.

Key responsibilities:

• Design and develop workflow orchestration services integrating AI capabilities to improve automation, system monitoring and operational efficiency.
• Build intelligent agents capable of automating operational activities, infrastructure management and support processes.
• Develop orchestration services coordinating complex processing workflows and distributed systems.
• Integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI services into operational platforms.
• Develop REST APIs and backend services supporting automation platforms.
• Develop Python applications for infrastructure automation, workflow orchestration and system integration.
• Integrate AI with monitoring platforms to enable proactive operational support.
• Collaborate with Operations Engineers to identify automation opportunities and eliminate manual procedures. 

Knowledge and experience:

• Strong software development experience in Python.
• Experience designing and developing backend services and REST APIs.
• Strong experience in integrating AI models and Large Language Models.
• Experience with AI Agents and Agentic Workflows.
• Experience developing automation platforms and workflow orchestration systems.
• Solid knowledge of Linux environments.
• Experience working with PostgreSQL or other relational databases.
• Experience with Docker and containerized applications.
• Knowledge of Git and modern software development workflows.
• Strong analytical mindset and software engineering best practices.
• Ability to transform operational requirements into automated software solutions.

Additional skills:

• Experience in integrating AI with Jira, Confluence, Grafana, Prometheus or similar platforms.
• Experience with message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience developing distributed systems.
• Familiarity with MLOps concepts.
• Experience in DevOps environments.
