Whether you’re helping managing spacecraft operations, analysing mission data, or supporting software and systems development, your expertise will help move Europe’s space ambitions forward.
Your Mission
The role focuses on supporting the system engineering and AIV (Assembly, Integration and Validation) activities for the IRIDE Ground Segment, ensuring that all components, from PDGS to downstream services, work together consistently. The work involves producing and maintaining system engineering documentation, including requirements, interface definitions, and end-to-end service descriptions. It also includes contributing to integration and validation test plans, procedures, and reports, as well as defining and executing test campaigns to verify overall system performance. Monitoring KPIs is a key part of the role to ensure service reliability and performance across the Ground Segment and related platforms like the Marketplace. In addition, the position requires reviewing and preparing technical documentation such as validation plans and test reports and actively participating in technical meetings and reviews with ESA and industry partners.
What You Bring to the Mission
The ideal candidate has a university degree in engineering or a related technical field, along with at least five years of relevant professional experience. You bring strong expertise in integration and validation testing, ideally within Earth Observation Ground Segments, and have a solid background in system engineering activities such as requirements management and interface definition. You are comfortable planning and executing test schedules, and have hands-on experience managing system and software anomalies, including reporting, analysis, classification, and resolution. The role requires good programming skills to develop tools for testing, validation, and monitoring, as well as strong proficiency with Linux operating systems and a working knowledge of database management systems such as MySQL or PostgreSQL. Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is essential. The candidate should also demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively across teams and stakeholders, combined with a proactive and solution-oriented approach to problem solving. Additional desirable skills include familiarity with Earth Observation data product formats, knowledge of ECSS standards, and understanding of IRIDE missions and FOS/PDGS development processes. Experience with end-to-end service definition, KPI monitoring frameworks, or service-oriented architectures is also considered as an advantage.
