Here at Serco, we’re looking for a Privacy Business Lead to provide business-facing leadership and coordination for data protection across our Corporate Functions.

This is a key role within Serco’s federated privacy model, acting as the bridge between Corporate Function leadership, Data Protection Champions and our Central UK Privacy Office and DPO. You’ll help ensure privacy risks, actions and requirements are understood, owned and embedded into day-to-day business operations.

This is an opportunity to make a real impact by helping shape privacy maturity across Corporate Functions, influencing senior stakeholders and driving practical improvements in how privacy is managed across the business.

As part of this you’ll:

• Act as the recognised privacy lead for Corporate Functions, ensuring privacy receives appropriate management attention.
• Build strong relationships with senior leaders and act as a trusted business partner on privacy risks, priorities and decisions.
• Represent Corporate Functions at privacy governance forums and coordinate actions, risks and compliance activity.
• Coordinate business engagement across areas including Records of Processing Activities (RoPA), Data Subject Rights (DSRs), breaches, Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), information governance and data sharing.
• Provide direction, support and coordination to Data Protection Champions across Corporate Functions.
• Track privacy actions, identify blockers and escalate issues through the appropriate governance routes.
• Support the implementation and adoption of privacy standards, controls, processes and new ways of working.
• Champion privacy by design and encourage early privacy engagement across organisational, technology and operational change.
• Conduct periodic privacy health checks and quality assurance reviews, helping to identify emerging risks and improvement opportunities.
• Develop privacy improvement plans and support strategic privacy programmes and maturity initiatives.
• Produce clear reporting and insights for Executive Leadership and the Privacy Steering Committee.
• Work closely with the Central UK Privacy Office and DPO, providing a reliable and effective business interface for Corporate Functions.

What you’ll need to do the role:

• Strong operational understanding of a business area, function, contract environment or service model.
• Experience coordinating activity across multiple stakeholders, including where you don't have direct authority.
• Experience working within governance, risk, compliance, audit, assurance or other regulated environments.
• A working understanding of data protection principles, or the ability and commitment to develop this quickly through training.
• Understanding of how privacy activity connects to DSRs, breaches, DPIAs, RoPA, information governance and data sharing.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the credibility and confidence to engage and influence senior leaders.
• The ability to manage actions, resolve blockers and escalate issues appropriately.
• A practical, business-focused approach to privacy, with the ability to translate requirements into clear and achievable actions.
• Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to bring people together and maintain momentum across multiple areas.
• The confidence to constructively challenge delays, weak ownership or poor engagement while maintaining positive relationships.

You’ll also be required to complete mandatory Data Privacy Lead induction and role-based privacy training within the required timescales, alongside any certification or accreditation requirements set by the Central UK Privacy Office.
