The Defence Academy sits within a beautiful and secure site which hosts 2 lakes and is surrounded by acres of scenic woodland. The Academy trains the future commanders and staff officers of all three UK Armed Services and those from many countries around the world.
Key Responsibilities:
- Third Party income generation (3PIG) for Serco at the Defence Academy. This involves selling irreducible spare teaching space to external customers for events, seminars or courses to generate revenue.
- Document control co-ordination for the department. Ensuring departmental Local Operating Procedures (LOP’s), Work Instructions (WI’s) and other standard documents are reviewed and updated when required. Monitoring of department work instruction register.
- Department Controller for the Serco Defence Academy Business Continuity Plan (BCP).
- Learning Support involving pulling reports from the LMS system and updating training matrices.
- Continuous improvement project focused role that will improve the service we provide to our customer.
- Emergency cover for business-critical activities within the Support Services department. This role will have a broad knowledge of the department as a whole and be able to cover the basic core services of a variety of teams in emergency situations (sick leave, annual leave etc).
- Provide support to the Line Managers of the department during peaks in workload or ad-hoc situations – note taker, recruitment support, new starter training as an example.
What We're Looking For:
- Previous Administration experience.
- Proven organisational skills, ability to proactively manage workload and negotiating deadlines where necessary.
- PC literate, with a good level of experience in MS Office including Outlook (essential), Word (essential), Excel (essential) and Power point (desirable).
- Professional and engaging communication, at all levels, using a variety of communication methods (spoken, written).
- Ability to work unsupervised and to cope under pressure, with conflicting demands of customer and colleagues, maintaining composure.
- Enthusiasm for team cohesion, wellbeing and generating new initiatives.
- Deliver customer service and strengthen and build collaborative customer relationships.
- Ability to interpret/analyse information.
- Previous Event Management experience (desirable).

MoD Security Clearance. Due to the nature of the organisation, all employees of Serco are required to be security cleared to SC level.
