£27,452 per annum plus benefits
Serco have a fantastic opportunity for a Transport Coordinator to join the team at the Defence Academy based in Shrivenham. Sitting within a beautiful and secure site, the Defence Academy is surrounded by acres of scenic woodland. The Academy trains the future commanders and staff officers of all three UK Armed Services and those from many countries around the world.
As the Transport Coordinator, you will have primary responsibility for the efficient and optimal scheduling of MOD road transport requests and the safe running of the MT Office. Additionally, you may be required to undertake driving duties, vehicle cleaning and associated tasks on the DACI contract.
The ideal candidate will have strong communication and customer service skills, and a proactive, problem-solving mindset. Familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools is preferred, along with the ability to manage workloads under pressure.
Main responsibilities of the role include:
- Daily scheduling of customer provided and Serco fleets.
- Booking of third-party transport suppliers.
- Assisting in the management of driver databases.
- Producing monthly reports.
- Take a pro-active role within the team to liaise with customers and be fully conversant with workload.
- Handle telephone calls, emails, self-service, and customers visits to the MT.
- Provide cover in times of absence of colleagues.
- Ensure departmental Work Instruction and customer help guides are created, reviewed and updated on a regular basis.
What you'll need to do the role:
- Experience of transport coordination in either Defence or Commercial environment.
- Excellent written, verbal communication and customer service skills.
- Methodical and logical in approach, innovative thinker, problem solving skills.
- Strong IT literacy, and prior experience using Microsoft Office 365 including Teams.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to proactively manage workload and cope under pressure, with conflicting demands of customer and colleagues.
- UK Driving Licence Category B held for 3 years+.

MOD Security Clearance.
This role requires SC clearance. If successful in your application, we would support you with the SC process. As a guideline only, you would normally need to have been a UK resident for the last 5 consecutive years.
