We’re looking for a Growth and Proposal Manager to help us shape new and existing opportunities within the Defence sector. In this strategic leadership role, you’ll lead go-to-market activities and manage end-to-end proposal development to secure contracts that matter. You’ll partner with internal teams, foster industry relationships, and craft high-quality bids that align with Serco’s purpose—making a difference through innovative, people-focused solutions.

As a Growth and Proposal Manager in the Defence team, you’ll make a positive impact by:
•    Leading market strategies that drive new and retained business
•    Coordinating proposal submissions and shaping winning bids
•    Collaborating with internal teams to align solutions with customer needs
•    Building strong relationships with clients and industry stakeholders
•    Championing innovation and continuous improvement in bidding processes
•    Ensuring compliance with governance and ethical standards

To excel you will be responsible for developing and seizing opportunities that have a direct impact on the Business Unit profitability and fit into one or more of these categories:
•    Seize Opportunity;
•    Maximise operating profit; and
•    Mitigate risks.

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

•    Minimum 10 years' experience leading teams in Defence or complex corporate environments
•    Proven success winning contracts in Public Sector and/or Defence markets
•    Ability to cultivate client relationships and manage high-level negotiations
•    Experience in strategic planning, design thinking, and innovation leadership
•    Strong commercial acumen and financial insight
•    Defence security clearance (NV1 or ability to obtain)
•    Relevant tertiary qualifications; post-graduate studies desirable
•    Leadership skills that foster psychological safety, inclusiveness, and a culture of innovation, resilience, and strategic vision.
