As a Senior Maritime Warfare Instructor, you will provide high-level training in navigation and tactical operations to the Royal Australian Navy's Maritime Warfare Officers. This role involves teaching in a combination of classroom education, advanced bridge simulators and occasional sea training periods on specialised training vessels ensuring Officers are prepared to contribute to operations effectively.  Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering specialist navigation and warfare training
  • Extensive training using simulation
  • Supporting courses through programming, briefings, and examination activities
  • Contributing to the course review and development processes
  • Maintaining expertise in navigation and warfare tactics and systems
  • Providing training outside regular hours on a shift roster

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • The ability to achieve and maintain a defence security clearance of NV1 or higher
  • Minimum of 18 months experience as the Navigating Officer or Principal Warfare Officer on a RAN Frigate or Destroyer, within the last 5 years, or Commonwealth equivalent
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, including the ability to show initiative and work effectively under pressure
