As a Shipwright/Subcontractor and Dockings Manager in the Kuttabul Port team, you’ll play a vital role in the Defence Marine Support Services (DMSS) Contract. You’ll provide professional technical and trades expertise to ensure the safe operation and maintenance of various vessels. Working from the Kuttabul Port Team Offices, you’ll manage subcontractors and oversee dockings, directly supporting the Royal Australian Navy.

 

Key responsibilities:

• Managing docking projects from scope development through to execution

• Applying shipwright expertise to vessel maintenance and repair projects

• Coordinating subcontractors and ensuring compliance with maritime regulations

• Leading warranty processes and overseeing quality assurance documentation

• Supporting engineering investigations and liaising with vessel crews

• Directing schedule management and cost control for dockings

• Approving invoice claims and ensuring administrative accuracy in asset systems

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

• A minimum Certificate III Trade qualification (Shipwright or related) and relevant licences (Driver’s and Forklift)

• Extensive maritime experience, with at least three years in a senior or leadership role

• Demonstrated experience in shipwright, vessel docking, or marine trades

• Knowledge of RAN operations and asset maintenance practices

• Competence in MS Office and Asset Management Systems

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively

• Current First Aid Certificate

• The ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance
