Working with Serco on the MTTT Contract, you will report to the Senior Weapons Technician and play a pivotal role in maintaining the Mini Typhoon, Typhoon, and Toplite (MTTT) systems.
Your responsibilities will include servicing, diagnosing, and repairing weapon systems, coordinating maintenance resources, liaising with stakeholders, and providing expert technical guidance. The role is predominantly electronics-based, with elements of mechanical work. We welcome applications from former R.A.N. Electronics Technicians, who bring valuable skills and experience to this role.
You will also be responsible for supervising subcontractors and ensuring quality assurance across multiple locations, including Commonwealth and Serco Defence sites.
In this role, you will directly contribute to enhancing the operational readiness of MTTT systems, optimising performance, and strengthening Defence capability.
As a Weapons Technician, you’ll make a positive impact by:
• Maintaining and servicing Mini Typhoon, Typhoon, and Toplite (MTTT) systems.
• Respond to URDEF tasking, ensuring timely and effective resolution of system issues.
• Repair Line repairable units (LRU’s) whilst using automatic test equipment (ATE) in accordance with the contract arrangements.
• Coordinating maintenance activities and resources efficiently.
• Providing expert technical advice and guidance.
• Supervising subcontractors to ensure compliance and quality assurance.
• Conducting stakeholder liaison to support contract operations.
• Participating in inventory stocktakes and contract-support activities.
• Generate close out reports and compile Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) for the close out of assigned tasks.

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:
• Experience in R.A.N systems or weapons maintenance, repair, and quality assurance
• Strong technical knowledge of defence-related systems and equipment
• Minimum technical Trade certificate / Cert IV Mechanical / Electrical or Electronic Engineering
• Proficient in the use of the IFS Asset Management system or equivalent Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
• Australian Drivers Licence
• The ability to coordinate maintenance resources and supervise contractors
• Experience in stakeholder engagement and providing expert guidance
• Willingness to travel and work across different locations and vessels
• A commitment to upholding the highest standards of trust and responsibility
• A passion for training and a desire to contribute to Defence operations in Australia
