IT Support Technician - Level 1
Posting Start Date: 10 Feb 2026
Location: Toulouse, FR
Company: Serco Plc
Introduction
Serco is a leading Space Services Provider with thousands of skilled professionals supporting more than 50 space missions for over 10 Space and Government agencies worldwide, including ESA and NASA. We deliver space capability across the full lifecycle — from satellite testing and launch services, through LEOP and spacecraft operations, to space surveillance, data management, and downstream application development.
Now, we are looking for Level 1 IT Support Technicians to become part of this mission. In this role, you will support operational activities for a key customer within Serco’s European Space division, helping maintain the operational readiness and availability of the Galileo Service Centre backup infrastructure in Toulouse.
Your Mission
Your work will directly contribute to keeping Europe’s satellite navigation services resilient and secure. From daily system checks and alarm monitoring to antivirus updates, intrusion-detection signatures, and L1 maintenance, you will be part of the frontline ensuring systems remain healthy. When incidents arise, you will support troubleshooting by extracting logs and operational evidence, helping restore services quickly and safely.
What You'll Do
Every day starts with the quiet hum of the infrastructure—until it doesn’t. That’s why you’re always watching.
Eyes on the dashboards. Fingers on the pulse. You monitor, control, and log every heartbeat of the system, ready to jump the moment an alarm flickers to life. When something veers off course, you’re already moving—calm, precise, and fully aligned with the operational playbook.
Then comes the handovers.
Planned or sudden, routine or chaotic—you’re at the centre of it. You support and execute each transition like a relay runner passing the baton at full speed. Services never stumble; continuity is your craft. And when an unplanned handover hits, you’re the one who keeps the lights on.
Maintenance? You own it.
Preventive, corrective, adaptive, perfective—you work through the full spectrum of L1 responsibility, escalating to L2 or L3 only when the mission demands heavier firepower.
Every change made to the prime infrastructure? You’re synced.
No drift, no surprises—just tight alignment with configurations, updates, and modifications so operations stay sharp, consistent, and ready for anything.
And you don’t just operate the system—you tell its story.
Through clear, timely operational reports, you document performance, availability, anomalies, and activities, giving leadership the insights they need to steer the ship.
In review boards, you’re not just a participant—you’re a problem‑solver.
You surface issues, tackle root causes, and drive corrective actions forward.
And behind the scenes, your mind is always working.
Patterns, behaviours, trends—you sift through the data to spot what others miss. You propose improvements that push operations forward, fuelling a cycle of ongoing refinement and optimization.
This isn’t just support.
It’s guardianship, vigilance, agility, and continuous improvement—woven into the ongoing story of seamless operations.
What You'll Bring
Imagine stepping into a control room where every light, every graph, every heartbeat of the system matters. This is where precision meets pressure — and where you thrive.
You follow procedures with unwavering accuracy, eyes locked on complex real‑time systems. When an alarm pings or an unexpected event kicks off, you’re already in motion — reacting instantly, correctly, instinctively.
Handover time? You’re fluent in it.
You learn fast, adapt faster, absorbing configuration states and executing both planned and emergency operational shifts without missing a beat. Whether you’re leading the change or supporting it, the transition is seamless because you make it so.
When it’s time to get hands‑on, you’re ready.
Basic IT, networking, system admin, hardware handling — you bring practical, grounded technical capability to run checklists, grab logs, perform resets, and escalate with clarity and purpose. Level‑1 maintenance isn’t just a task list; it’s your toolkit.
Problems don’t faze you. They fuel you.
You break down anomalies methodically, document what you see, follow investigation paths, and contribute to incident resolution with clean, traceable evidence. Structure isn’t restrictive — it’s empowering.
Curiosity drives you further.
You scan for inefficiencies, analyze trends, and spot opportunities for improvement that others overlook. Your mindset pushes the operational environment to evolve — smarter, sharper, stronger.
Communication? You’ve got it.
Professional English is a given; French is a welcomed bonus. And as an EU national with clearance potential, you’re ready to operate where trust and reliability are non‑negotiable.
On the technical side, you understand the backbone — ICT technologies, modern solutions, and, ideally, the unique pulse of the Space domain. A degree in computer science or IT? It’s not mandatory, but it’s another asset in your arsenal.
And at the core of it all is who you are.
You manage yourself effectively, even in demanding, high‑stakes environments. You engage confidently across all levels of an organization. You’re methodical, proactive, independent — yet deeply collaborative. You think creatively, solve problems with intent, and communicate with clarity that builds relationships and trust.
This isn’t just a profile.
It’s the story of someone built for missions that matter — someone who brings calm, skill, and initiative to the front lines of critical operations.
