This solid foundation enables Serco France to foster innovation and deliver tailored solutions that drive efficiency and value across the industries it serves.
Due to our ongoing growth across the European space sector, Serco is looking for a talented and motivated Space Software Engineer to join our team in Toulouse. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with complex datasets, designing high-performance software systems and contributing to the success of European space missions.
The Community You’ll Step Into
You will join a team that operates at the heart of Europe’s space ambitions, surrounded by engineers, scientists and mission experts who collaborate on challenges that shape the future of satellite operations. Toulouse offers a unique environment where ground segment engineers work side by side with partners such as CNES and ESA, and where new ideas regularly turn into operational systems used for real missions.
Within Serco France, you will become part of a community that values technical excellence, curiosity and teamwork. You will interact with colleagues who specialise in simulation, mission analysis, data processing and software architecture, all working together to ensure satellite missions receive accurate, reliable and innovative support.
It is a space where discussions are dynamic, knowledge is shared freely and everyone contributes to building the next generation of software for Earth-orbiting spacecraft.
The Difference You Will Make
The software you develop will support critical phases of satellite missions, from simulation and validation to operations and data interpretation. Your work will influence how mission teams prepare for launches, predict orbital behaviour and analyse the performance of spacecraft in real time.
By designing robust algorithms, building simulation tools and ensuring high-quality code, you help create systems that engineers rely on for accuracy and dependability. Your contribution strengthens Serco France’s role as a trusted partner, demonstrating our ability to support national and European programmes with reliable, high-performance software solutions.
In this role, your expertise directly supports the success of missions that observe our planet, study the universe or contribute to global navigation and climate research.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will take part in the full lifecycle of ground segment software development. You will design and implement Java-based applications that support satellite simulation, control and data analysis, ensuring the systems you build are efficient, scalable and aligned with mission needs.
You will work closely with experts in space mechanics to translate physical models into functional algorithms, optimising calculations related to orbital dynamics, perturbations and spacecraft attitude. As projects evolve, you will contribute to requirements analysis, software design, coding, testing and integration, ensuring every component is documented and validated with care.
You will collaborate with engineers and scientists from partner organisations such as CNES and ESA, contributing to shared objectives and helping refine the tools used across European missions. As part of an evolving team, you will also support continuous improvement, propose new ideas and take part in innovation activities that keep our systems modern and competitive.
What You Bring
You bring a strong technical foundation, ideally through a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering or a related field. You have hands-on experience in Java development and feel comfortable working with numerical methods, scientific computing concepts and engineering-driven algorithms.
You understand the principles of orbital mechanics and can apply this knowledge to modelling, simulation or data analysis tasks. You work confidently with tools such as Git, Maven or Jenkins, and you appreciate the value of clean code, version control and automated testing.
You are analytical, curious and able to work independently while remaining a supportive team player. You communicate clearly, collaborate well in international environments and feel at ease in both English and French.
Experience in the space industry, knowledge of ground segment systems or exposure to simulation frameworks is a strong advantage. Familiarity with Agile or DevOps approaches is also appreciated. Above all, you bring enthusiasm, precision and a genuine interest in contributing to European space missions.
On Offer
When you join Serco France, you step into a role where your expertise is valued and where your growth is supported. You will have a permanent contract and the flexibility to work from home two days a week, giving you space to balance your personal routine with your professional goals.
Your workplace in Toulouse offers a modern coworking environment with everything you need for a comfortable day—good coffee, shared spaces, a kitchen, a restaurant and even showers for those who come by bike or enjoy an active start to their mornings.
