As a Fire Officer in our Governance, Performance, Planning and Compliance team, you’ll help create a safer environment for colleagues, prisoners, visitors and partners by leading and promoting effective fire safety practices across the contract. Your work will have a direct impact on protecting people, property and operations while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

What you’ll do as a Fire Officer
•    Conduct comprehensive fire risk assessments and identify opportunities to reduce and manage fire-related risks.
•    Develop, review and implement fire safety policies, procedures and guidance in line with regulatory and contractual requirements.
•    Deliver and support fire safety and Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) training programmes for colleagues.
•    Develop, maintain and test emergency response and business continuity plans, including coordinating fire drills and exercises.
•    Liaise with facilities management teams to ensure fire safety equipment, alarms, extinguishers and related systems are maintained and operational.
•    Investigate fire incidents, produce reports, analyse trends and present fire safety performance information to leadership forums.

 

Does this sound like you?
•    Knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and relevant fire safety legislation, standards and guidance.
•    Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and influence people at all levels.
•    Experience of conducting risk assessments and implementing effective safety controls.
•    Good IT, literacy and numeracy skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.
•    Ability to work independently, manage priorities and maintain accurate records and reports.

Vetting and checks
Job offers are subject to Ministry of Justice Enhanced Level 2 checks with Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance, satisfactory employment references and occupational health checks.
