Salary - £27,300 to £32,287 per annum
Here at Serco we are looking for a Workshop Instructor to join our team at HMP Dovegate - a Category B adult male facility near Uttoxeter, Staffordshire where we care for up to 1160 male adult prisoners over the age of 21 serving a range of sentences including trial, remand, those awaiting sentence and convicted men serving long and short term sentences.
The Workshop Instructor will be reporting to the Industries Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day activities within the Industries Workshops and oversee the national vocational training qualifications. This is a non-operational instructional job in the establishment.
What you will need to do the role:
• Maintain a safe and secure work environment in accordance with relevant instructions, Prison Rules and legislation
• Carry out the searching of prisoners, delivery of goods and work area in accordance with the Local Security Strategy (LSS).
• Induct prisoners to the workshop/area of work and train them in aspects such as Health and Safety, Control of Substance Hazardous to health (COSHH), machinery and tools usage, ensuring all documentation is completed and P-NOMIS is updated.
• Complete regime monitoring information and update prisoner training records
• Liaise and communicate with internal or external group/colleagues regarding prisoners / learning / production / repairs to area.
• Set work schedules and manage targets, ensure the partner company quality standards are archived, maintaining delivery of contractual arrangements.
