We are hiring Software Engineer (Biometrics & Border Security) for the an international organisation in Warsaw, Poland and various locations around Europe.

Main Responsibilities

• Designs and develops the system
• Lead development teams
• Translates requirements into design
• Optimizes software from performance, security and quality points of view
• Produces technical documentation
• Estimates effort and time for development
• Sets software development standards
• Propose technical solutions for business needs and technical problems
• Collects and interprets software metrics
• Manages configuration and releases
• Contributes to requirements analysis, testing, quality assurance, change management, deployment
• Tests solutions and develops testing tools
• Documents developments
• Prototypes solutions
• Acts as 2nd and 3rd line support

Knowledge and skills

• Has gone at least 1 time through the complete lifecycle of the solution
• Expert in developing enterprise level software systems in specified technology domain 
• Knows UML and can design applications in UML
• Proficient in designing and developing: data layer, business logic layer and UI layer
• Worked in Scrum developments
• Is capable for leading technical teams
• Holds ability to document effectively technical solutions
• Presents problem solving skills

Specific Expertise

• Has experience in the role of Software Developer (or similar) in a project(s) aimed at analysis, design, implementation and deployment of ICT Solution that was part of or was querying Schengen Information System.
• Has experience in the role of Software Developer (or similar) in a project(s) aimed at analysis, design, implementation and deployment of ICT Solution that enabled (1) scanning fingerprints (at least two (2) fingers) using NIST format or (2) scanning documents that have MRZ, e.g. passports, national IDs, driving license, visa stickers, residence permit or (3) scanning biometric documents that have RFID chip data, e.g. passports, national ID.
• Has experience in the role of Software Developer (or similar) in project(s) aimed at analysis, design, implementation

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher – ICT Degree is mandatory
• Minimum of 6 years of total work experience
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role/project
• Ability to understand, speak and write English (B2)
• Candidates will need to provide an English certification (B2)
• in the absence of one, candidates will be required to take a free online test, but will provide candidates a CEFR certification
• Remuneration :
• Freelancer daily rate range: 280-330 EUR/day
