At Serco, we’re looking for an Industries Curriculum Manager to join our team at HMP Fosse Way.
This is a brand-new resettlement prison, offering support and training for those preparing for release and successful reintegration into society, with meaningful and paid employment.
As an Industries Curriculum Manager you will supervise the daily operations of the education department based in the industries auxiliary building within HMP Fosse Way. Ensuring that your support services area including IAG, Exams, SEN, OU, Learner progress and data are fully operational and reflect the current population, ensuring maximum efficiency and quality. You will fully support the education department, ensuring quality of a learner's journey and support to access the curriculum is being provided. You will ensure that all data, within your remit, meets required benchmarks and that remedial action is put into place where they do not.
What you’ll do
- To ensure full operational running of the learner support services over a variety of teaching and learning sites, working in conjunction with the curriculum team leaders.
- Regularly review and monitor the data for Education and Industries.
- To Support future Ofsted inspections and learning and skills elements of HMIP inspections to ensure evidence is in line with expectations.
- To put the learner journey from IAG to successful completion at the heart of all areas of education
- To manage all annual leave within your areas responsibility, ensuring that workplace policies are followed at all times
- To manage all absences within your areas responsibility in ensuring HR policies are followed at all times
- To work alongside the Head of Education, Skills and Work for all areas of recruitment
- To complete PDRs, with all directly line managed staff members, within agreed timescales
- To ensure that all staff with your curriculum responsibility are fully update with all Serco essential training
- To seek to motivate and provide solutions for prisoners not engaging in education and work
- To be a part of the Education Strategy Group and fully participate in meetings when requested.
- To provide day to day management of all quality systems and procedures, working in conjunction with the HofESW
- To represent the Education, Skills and Work at meetings throughout the secure estate, as required.
- To lead on the Quality Implementation Group and be responsible for the Performance Review document.
- To monitor learner data to ensure achievement of benchmarking, implementing appropriate remedial actions where necessary
- To chair regular learner support team meetings
- To assist in responses to formal Prisoner complaints/queries, taken appropriate remedial action where necessary
- To submit procurement request following agreed policies
- To support, listen and develop all support staff
- To ensure that health and safety procedure are always followed
- To fairly and effectively apply company policy, to challenge poor performance and behaviour
- To understand education wider departmental practices
- To maintain links and information exchange with appropriate partnerships
- To undertake other duties as directed by senior management
What you’ll need
Qualifications:
Minimum
- GCSE (Grade 4 or above) Maths and English Language
- PGCE / Certificate in Education
Desirable
- Leadership and Management Qualification
- Level 5 Assessors award Knowledge:
- Awareness of current education Policies impacting on the delivery of custodial education provision
Experience
- Experience of support systems and procedure in an education within a diverse and challenging environment
- Experience of managing staff
- Responds to identified needs by undertaking self-directed learning, research and training as required
- Establishes internal / external links as required
