Here at Serco we are looking for a Records Clerk to join the Offender Management Unit at our new state of the art Category C prison, HMP Fosse Way.

 

The main role of a Records Clerk based within the Offender Management Unit (OMU) is to work as part of a team, ensuring prisoner records are kept up to date throughout periods in custody.  

 

The successful candidate will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities, and duties:

 

  • Responsible for the upkeep of all prisoner records including creating and maintaining audit trails and appropriate archiving of records.
  • Updating prison recording systems (NOMIS/DPS/local databases) following admission of all new prisoners.
  • Overseeing functional mailboxes, obtaining legal documentation and warrants following court/video link appearances.
  • Liaising with both internal and external agencies on behalf of the Offender Management Unit.
  • Contributing to the smooth running and overall performance within the department Assisting with case admin roles and other tasks within the department.
  • General admin – filing of documents and processing mail/parcels for the department.

 

What you will need to do the role

 

  • GCSEs – Maths, English Grade C or above
  • Good IT literacy – Systems, Excel, Word
  • A strong communicator, with the ability to get messages across effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Collaborative team worker
  • Solid organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate workload based on deadlines
  • Sound ethical and professional standards
  • Confident and credible, with strong communication skills
  • Can demonstrate ability/experience in working within a busy environment.
  • Must be able to multi-task varied and demanding workloads.
  • At all times maintain professional boundaries and adhere to the Serco Code of Conduct and local policies and procedures.

What else do you need to know?

  • This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, all offers of employment are subject to security clearance checks and approval by the Home Office. 
  • You will be required to obtain Ministry of Justice Enhanced Level 2 Vetting.
