Here at Serco, we are looking for a Shop Manager to join the team at our state of the art Category C prison, HMP Fosse Way. The main role of the Shop Manager is to provide and carry out canteen services within HMP Fosse Way in accordance with all relevant and current regulations, legislation and guidelines.

 

The successful candidate will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities, and duties:

  • To work with the Catering and Procurement Manager and Business Services team in the delivery of canteen services to the whole establishment and comply with all relevant Health & Safety and Food Safety Regulations, legislation and company guidelines & operational procedures.
  • To organise, motivate and train staff in the culture of shop work.
  • To manage and operate CMS system.
  • To complete administrative tasks as dictated by the catering operation.
  • To assist with ordering of all foodstuffs and consumables for all catering requirements.
  • To organise and accept food deliveries in line with current company procedures.
  • To collect delivery vehicles from the gate and return as per the LSS.
  • To oversee the unloading of all food deliveries and check against orders and delivery notes, reporting problems to the Manager or team leader
  • To oversee delivery of foodstuffs to designated wings and houseblocks.

 

 

Essential qualifications:

 

  • Literacy and Numeracy Level 2 or equivalent GCSE.

    • Awareness- Food Safety*
    • Level 2- First Aid at Work

    *Level 2 Qualification in Food Safety & HACCP required to be completed during initial probation period.

    *Level 2 Qualification in Allergens in Catering required to be completed during initial probation period.

    *Level 2 Qualification in First Aid at Work required to be completed during initial probation period.

 

What you will need to do the role:

 

  • A strong commitment to the rehabilitation of prisoners.
  • An understanding of working in a socially diverse environment, along with a good team ethic.
  • Basic working knowledge of a commercial warehouse environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills, including good oral and written communication.
  • Excellent time management
  • Experience in a managerial role within retail for at least three years
