As a Marine Engine Driver 1 (MED1) in our Defence Marine Support Services team, you’ll play an important role in ensuring the safe operation and maintenance of Serco’s inshore fleet. You’ll work closely with our site management team and vessel Masters, contributing to a range of marine engineering, operational and administrative tasks that support the Australian Defence Force. Your work will make a positive difference by ensuring safe, reliable, and effective marine services.
As a Marine Engine Driver 1, you’ll make a positive impact by:
- Performing marine operations including vessel handling and seamanship tasks
- Managing and co-ordinating ship-to-ship and terminal fuel transfers on tankers
- Participating in crew inductions, training, drills and exercises
- Performing vessel maintenance and marine engineering operations
- Completing and maintaining vessel documentation, logs and records
- Supporting customer engagement with professionalism and integrity

To be successful in this role you’ll have:
- A valid AMSA Certificate of Competency as Marine Engine Driver 1 Near Coastal (NC)
- Statements of Attainment in Safe Cargo Operations and Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting
- High Risk Licences including Dogging, Crane, and Confined Space
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Maritime industry experience
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Eligibility to obtain Defence Security Clearance and Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC)
