Make an impact at Serco
As a Caterer at Acacia Prison, you’ll support the day-to-day delivery of safe, high-quality catering and hospitality services. You’ll work closely with the Catering team to prepare nutritious meals while meeting food safety, hygiene and operational requirements. You’ll also support and train prison workers, helping create a safe, respectful and well-organised kitchen environment. This is a practical, hands-on role where your attention to detail and collaborative approach will make a meaningful difference every day.
As a Caterer in the Catering team, you’ll make a positive impact by:
- Preparing and serving consistent, nutritious and well-presented meals
- Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and HACCP compliance
- Supporting the Catering Manager with efficient day-to-day kitchen operations
- Training and supporting prison workers and catering staff
- Managing stock, equipment and kitchen assets accurately and securely
- Promoting a safe, respectful workplace and reporting risks or hazards promptly
Serco is a place for you
You could be a great fit if you have:
- Certificate III in Hospitality, Commercial Cookery or relevant trade qualification
- Strong knowledge of HACCP principles and safe food handling practices
- Three years’ experience as a Head Chef within a large catering operation
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, positive approach
- Confidence working independently in a complex and changing environment
- Good attention to detail, basic computer skills and a customer-focused mindset
