About the Role
As a Registered Nurse – Drug & Alcohol at Acacia Prison, you’ll play a key role in supporting inmates affected by substance use issues through assessment, referral, counselling, and case management.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary health team, you will contribute to:
• Promoting the rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates
• Ensuring the safety and security of inmates, staff, and the community
• Providing a respectful and professional environment for staff, inmates, and visitors
This role allows you to make a real difference by supporting individuals with complex needs while maintaining high standards of clinical care within a secure setting.
What You’ll Bring
- Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
- Minimum 2 years’ clincal experience in mental health and/or drug and alcohol programs (full-time or part time equivalent)
- Relevant post graduate qualifications in mental health or drug and alcohol; or working towards same; or extensive experience working in drug and alcohol field
- Experience in conducting health assessments and case management of patients health care
- Strong understanding of drug and alcohol issues, dual diagnosis, and chronic disease
- Sound knowledge of common mental health concerns
- Cultural awareness across diverse backgrounds and contemporary issues
